Meet Dr. Nishimoto (“Dr. Carrie”)

Meet Carrie S. Nishimoto, D.D.S. in Santa Clara

Background:

I was born and raised in San Francisco. In the eighth grade, I wrote a term paper on “The Cause and Effect of Tooth Decay”- never having given a second thought to a career in dentistry. I majored in microbiology at U.C. Berkeley and worked at Chiron, an Emeryville biotech company, as a lab assistant. I changed my focus toward health sciences after discovering I preferred more human interaction in a work environment.

I received my D.D.S. degree from UCLA School of Dentistry. After many, many associateships with offices in L.A. County and the greater Bay Area, I bought a 37 year old practice from Dr. Don Wallis in 2001. We relocated to our Scott Blvd. office in 2015 and celebrated 21 years of private practice this year.

I have also worked in L.A. and Santa Clara Counties as a staff dentist from 1995-1996 and 2007-2018. Various positions allowed me to experience neighborhood clinics, a mobile van, and an emergency hospital setting. I had lots of opportunities to speak Spanish with adult and pediatric patients! I also realized the breadth of dental needs there was in the community.

Interests and Family:

I’m married to Pete, and we have a daughter Sienna who is 16.
I spend much of my free time road and trail running. I started with a 5 mi. race in Golden Gate Park in 2000. My favorite trail runs include Quarry Park (Saratoga) and the famed Dipsea Trail (Mill Valley).

Other things I enjoy doing are camping/hiking in Yosemite National Park and the Eastern Sierra, going to museums and farmers’ markets, calligraphy, and eating.
